Reflection
In today's interactive session, we were introduced to terms such as context and scale. The warm-up consisted of discussing the term context in depth and its relationship to scale. We observed objects that have been changed in scale according to the context it has been put in. I learned from the discussions that the same object, when increased or reduced in scale, brings changes to its original function and the context in which it is used.
1. Activity
We learned to manipulate scale/dimension of objects and bring in new contexts for them to be utilized in.
Approach-- altering perception, imagining objects in our surroundings being used in different contexts while playing with its scale.
Challenges-- faced in choosing an object (stationery) with a suitable form that can be enlarged to fit varying contexts. We spent too much time on this stage.
I may have overcome this by not overthinking about the final results when it is just the beginning and let the ideation be natural.
2. Team working
Group work during this activity went better this week. I think I was able to speak out my ideas better this time. Everyone in the team was very enthusiastic while giving out ideas, and the work was properly divided between the members.
Challenges-- we faced a challenge in time management. We decided the time to start compiling the work 15 minutes before the meeting, and this led to the compiling (collecting all members pictures, pasting, labeling) becoming rushed.
To overcome this, we could have set an earlier time for compiling the slides, or by having each member paste there work onto the slides as soon as it is done.
Learning Mantra of the day-- "Manage time better, the last 15 minutes usually are not enough for collecting and compiling"
