Reflection
Mundane to magnificent aims at exploring and coming to understand materials that have always been around us. Experimenting with different types of paper and realizing how they behave, their structure, properties, etc. by working hands on with the material.

Mix and match of cutting and burning of Sub board to create a new paper texture.
Sun board was cut into rectangles and burnt on one edge to experiment with its structure. Because of its material the area contracted where it was burnt and the rectangular pieces shrunk in different heights.
The rectangles were organized in order of height to create a layered pattern.
Burning sun board let out unpleasant fumes and I made the mistake of doing it indoors. I could have done the burning outside instead to be safer.
Manipulating paper to create a form, by applying cutwork/jaali for the base and coiling to create rings for the protruding cones.
The colored paper was flimsy and difficult to put in shape once cut into thin strips and the coiling each ring took some time.
However the paper was an easier material to do cutwork on compared to sun board, ohp sheets, etc. materials that I used the cutter on.
Paper properties
Parchment paper has specific uses in baking/cooking. The paper having grease proof properties is used as a baking product. The paper's resistance to grease and humidity is suitable for baking and prevents the batter or dough for sticking to the cakepan.
Safety practices
Using adhesives
Do's
Keep it in a cool place.
Make sure the cap is closed whenever not in use.
When using strong smelling adhesives like fevibond keep a mask on yourself.
Keep them in a place out of reach from pets and children.
Don'ts
Avoid strong adhesives like fevikwik from coming in contact with your skin.
Don't panic/use force to separate, if your fingers get stuck together by mistake. Let the adhesive naturally come off.
Don't loose the caps of adhesives.
Don't leave liquid adhesives on the floor when working.
Conclusion
The task during day 3 was in my experience, the muddiest point in learning. After the discussions where examples were given for various combinations of techniques to create unique paper textures, I found myself stuck in making multiple textures with something new and each one.
Towards the end for the final outcome, sharing my ideas with the faculty helped me in planning what I wanted to create under each the texture (form, pulp, jaali, etc.) assigned to the faces of the cube.
Learning about small details that matter a lot when working in 3D was something I took forward in my final outcome.
