Pre-work

Materials : White and black paper, Tissue paper, Toiler paper, Cotton, Soft pastels.

Black paper

- used to make the dark gills of the mushroom that appear when half-cut vertically.

- used to make moss stuck on the surface of the mushroom.

White paper

- used to make the flat side of the half-cut mushroom.

Tissue paper

- used to make the skin of the bulb.

- bunched up at the margin to to replicate the lines at margin of the real mushroom.

Toilet paper

- used to make the stem of the margin to replicate the lines visible on the stem of the real mushroom.

Soft pastels

- use of brown and ochre colors to replicate white fading into darker browns at ends of the stem and at the margins of the mushroom.

Cotton

- used as stuffing to replicate the shape of the bulb.

- used instead of sponge. Sponge was used earlier in an attempt to replicate the hardness of the mushroom but it was difficult to manipulate into the desired shape.
